As we defend our national sovereignty, we must recognize that Cuba has long been trying to do the same. Canada has had unbroken relations with Cuba for more than 80 years, yet our government chooses to play into the hands of the United States. If we want to defend our Canadian interests, we must develop an independent foreign policy of cooperation with Cuba.
