The Canadian labour congress passes resolution in support of cuba!

Thousands of delegates to the Canadian Labour Congress met this week (May 11th – 15th, 2026) in Winnipeg for the 31st Constitutional Convention. Union activists from all over Canada came to organize, strategize, and show the power of workers coming together.

Cuba had a large part to play in this year’s convention. The Canadian Network on Cuba was there to talk to delegates about why Cuba is a working-class issue and the best ways to support the people enduring the longest blockade in history.

On Wednesday evening, the Canadian Network on Cuba hosted an event on the sidelines of the convention with member group Manitoba Cuba Solidarity Committee and the Action Caucus. Deputy Head of Mission of the Cuban Embassy in Canada, Dany Tur de la Concepción spoke to a packed room, alongside activists, labour organizers and brigadistas who had just returned from Cuba.

Dany Tur was also able to meet with some important political and labour leaders while in Winnipeg.

The convention returned the love by passing a resolution in solidarity with the Cuban people!

Thank you to all the delegates at the CLC Convention for showing solidarity with the people of Cuba!
