Cuba’s march today against the U.S. economic war, the unrelenting campaign of destabilization and inclusion of the heroic island nation on the specious and arbitrary State Sponsors of Terrorism List is a resounding assertion, expression and defence of dignity, resistance and resilience in the face of relentless imperial aggression. The ongoing U.S. economic blockade, spanning more than six decades, constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and a crime against humanity, inflicting immense suffering on the Cuban people.
This inhumane policy has stifled Cuba’s economic development, denied access to essential goods and resources, and sought to undermine the island’s ability to chart its own independent path. It is the principal obstacle to Cuba’s development and objective of building a society founded on ever increasing equality, equity and social justice.
The inclusion of Cuba on the U.S. State Sponsors of Terrorism List is baseless, arbitrary, and a cynical weaponization of international mechanisms to further economic warfare. Cuba has consistently demonstrated its commitment to peace, sustainable development and solidarity, exemplified through its medical internationalist brigades and its role in promoting peaceful relations between nations. Washington’s malicious labelling Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism not only undermines these profound contributions to world’s wellbeing but also imposes additional hardships on the people of Cuban by restricting financial transactions and exacerbating the blockade’s devastating impact. The demand to remove Cuba from this list is a demand for justice, truth, and the dismantling of policies rooted in hostility and falsehood.
Today’s march represents not just a response of the Cuban people but a call to the global community to stand in solidarity with a nation whose resilience and commitment to social justice have inspired movements for liberation, justice and human dignity worldwide. The march is policies designed to destabilize and isolate Cuba, an act of defiance against efforts to suppress its revolutionary spirit.
Today the people of Cuba exemplify and underscore their unwavering call for the world to reject imperialism and support Cuba’s right to self-determination, development, independence and sovereignty.
