Re: An in-line society in an online era, printed July 25, 2015

I was saddened and to read this shallow and negative article about Cuban lineups. How sad to see this article, particularly on the eve of one of Cuba’s important dates: July 26 commemorating the attack on the dictator Batista’s Moncada barracks. The Cubans are celebrating 62 years of defending independence, justice and dignity.

62 Years Since Moncada! 62 Years of Defending Independence, Justice and Dignity!

July 26th, 2015 marks the 62nd anniversary of the act that is annually commemorated all over Cuba as the beginning of the movement and struggle that paved the way for the Cuban Revolution. On that day 62-years ago, Cubans rose up against the U.S. supported dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. Although that first battle was lost, the Revolution ultimately prevailed on January 1st, 1959.  During the annual July 26th commemorations, the people of Cuba gather to honour the heroines and heroes of Moncada, and to celebrate Cuba's independence.

Another Historic Victory for Cuba’s Just and Principled Foreign Policy

The Canadian Network On Cuba welcomes the historic July 1st announcement by the governments of Cuba and the United States that both countries will reopen embassies and restore full diplomatic relations on July 20th.  Washington had unilaterally severed diplomatic relations between the countries in 1961.  The restoration of full diplomatic relations represents the resounding failure of Washington’s policy to isolate and destroy the Cuban Revolution. Indeed, it was Washington that has become isolated in world opinion.  This isolation is epitomized by the annual United Nations massive rejection of the U.S. economic blockade of Cuba, and by the return of Cuba at the overwhelmingly insistence of the nations of the Americas to the 2015 Summit of the Americas.

4th INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR FOR PEACE AND ABOLITION OF FOREIGN MILITARY BASES Print E-mail

International Seminar for Peace and Abolition of Foreign Military BasesThe World Peace Council (WPC) and the Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of the Peoples (MovPaz), Regional Coordinator of the WPC for America and the Caribbean, convoke to the 4th International Seminar for Peace and Abolition of Foreign Military Bases.

The Seminar is to take place on November 22-25, 2015 in the province of Guantánamo, where a territory of 117 sq. Km. has been illegally occupied for more than one-hundred years by a United States naval base that is currently one of the most terrifying and inhuman torture centers of the planet.

This seminar will be an important occasion to increase the unity in the international struggle in favour of the suppression of the arbitrary and illegal military bases imposed against the peoples’ will.
