Uphold the Right of Self-Determination! No to Colonial and Imperial Policies! Print E-mail
-Isaac Saney, CNC Spokesperson, March 2, 2021-

The Canadian Network on Cuba (CNC) is outraged by the communique from Global Affairs Canada summarizing the February 26 virtual meeting between Foreign Minister Marc Garneau and U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. It is an open declaration that Ottawa, lock step with the United States, arrogates to itself the right to intervene in the affairs of countries across the globe, particularly in the Americas. As the follow-up to the so-called Roadmap for a Renewed U.S.-Canada Partnership launched by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Joe Biden in their own February 23 virtual meeting, the communique not only violates international law, norms and conventions but also reeks of the discredited colonialist mentality and practice of foisting on independent countries imperial arrangements that they do not want or accept.

Cuba's Henry Reeve Brigade sends doctors on request to COVID-19 hot spots and natural disasters. Cuba saves lives. Its contribution is valued and recognized around the world.

Yet, on January 11, discredited President Trump's State Department added Cuba to its unilateral list of "state sponsors of terrorism". This action has nothing to do with terrorism, but everything to do with making life harder for the Cuban people.

Donation breaks the U.S. blockade against Cuba in Covid-19 times Print E-mail
Havana, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Wednesday noted that a recent donation of medical supplies to the country counteracts the effects of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

On his Twitter account, the president expressed gratitude for the shipment arranged by the Juan Gualberto Gomez Association of Cubans in Toronto, Canada, to contribute to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

'The solidarity of the Juan Gualberto Gomez Association of Cubans Residents in Toronto and of Canadian individuals and institutions united in the Yes for Cuba project is very welcomed. It is of great value your help to fight the #blockade and #COVID19. Thank you. #CubaAlive,' he tweeted.
