Re: Canada-Cuba Relations
I am writing to you on behalf of the Canadian Network On Cuba (CNC), which represents 22 Canada-Cuba friendship and solidarity organizations across Canada, ranging from Vancouver to Halifax, with over 50,000 in membership. Two of the CNC’s principal objectives are:
* bringing an end to U.S. economic sanctions against Cuba and * ensuring that Canada’s relations with Cuba are based on equality and respect for the island nation's independence, sovereignty, and the right of self-determination.
Canadians - more than 3,900 - have already spoken clearly on these matters in two parliamentary petitions (e-2586 and e-3456) calling on the Government of Canada to actively oppose U.S. economic aggression against Cuba, and to ensure that Ottawa-Havana relations be maintained in accordance with established international law and diplomatic norms. |

Dear Minister Garneau,
Re: Unjustified Attack on Cuba
I am writing to you on behalf of the Canadian Network On Cuba (CNC), which represents Canada-Cuba friendship and solidarity organizations from Vancouver to Halifax, with a membership of more than 50,000. Two of the CNC’s principal objectives are bringing an end to U.S. economic sanctions against Cuba and ensuring that Canada’s relations with Cuba are based on equality and respect for the island nation's independence, sovereignty, and the right of self-determination.
We, in the CNC, are concerned about the extreme and humiliating pressure that the government of the United States is exerting on third countries to support a Joint Statement - it has written - unjustly condemning Cuba. |

Canadians have emphatically demanded an end to the U.S. siege of Cuba, with thousands declaring that Cuba is not alone by signing the parliamentary petition condemning Washington’s economic war and campaign of subversion against the heroic island nation. For more than 60-years in the longest lasting regime of sanctions in history, Washington has imposed an economic blockade on Cuba, seeking to cut off the island’s trade, commercial and financial links to the rest of the world. |

|
|
big thank you to everyone who supported and participated in the Canadian Network on Cuba’s 2nd 26-hour virtual picket against the U.S. Blockade on Cuba, June 22-23, 2021. The event was a great success!
>> A REPORT AND LETTER OF THANKS! <<
From June 17-23, 2021 an international week of action was called. Organizations around the world used this week to raise their united voices against the cruel and unjust U.S. blockade against Cuba. Political events, protests, webinars, art shows, car caravans, bike caravans, marches, and other creative actions were organized by the Cuba solidarity movement around the world. This coincided with Cuba’s preparation to introduce its resolution for the world to condemn this unjust U.S. policy at the United Nations General Assembly for the 29th time. |
