The Canadian Network on Cuba warmly congratulates Nino Pagliccia on receiving the Cuban Medal of Friendship. Nino was the first Co-chair of the CNC when it was founded in 2002.
In recognition of his long time solidarity with Cuba, the medal of the Council of State of Cuba, was presented in Havana in February by Kenia Serrano, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.
Nino Pagliccia participated in the second Ché Guevara Volunteer Work Brigade in 1994 and took on its organization and leadership until 2008. He was also the vice-president of the Canadian Cuban Friendship Association-Vancouver still remaining a member today.
Nino spent three years putting together a book with contributions from 12 Canadian authors about solidarity with Cuba over the past five decades. The book, Cuba Solidarity in Canada, was published in December 2014 under the auspices of the CNC and was launched early in 2015. Nino made a tour of Cuba in February while the International Book Fair was taking place. He did 9 presentations of the book in six cities, including the Book Fair in Havana.”
