The Canadian Network on Cuba (CNC) proudly congratulates the Vancouver Free the Five Committee on its 100th monthly picket at the US Consulate in Vancouver in support of the release of all of the five Cuban Heroes.
This is a major accomplishment in the world wide campaign to mark the fifth of the month as a day of solidarity with the Cuban Five. For more than 8 years, on the fifth of every month, Vancouverites have consistently attended the picket, with signs and handouts to make known the injustice that the five Cuban heroes have suffered for more than 15 years. This takes organization, sacrifice and commitment to time and again demonstrate and campaign for their release.
The Canadian Network on Cuba endorses the 100th monthly picket in Vancouver and has called upon our member organizations to organize in conjunction local events for justice for the Cuban Five. Pickets and events will take place on March 5th 2014 in Ottawa, Toronto and other cities in conjunction with this 100 picket in Vancouver.
Special guests, including the Cuban Ambassador Julio Garmendia Peña, Political Attaché of the Cuban Embassy Miraly Gonzalez Gonzalez, author Stephen Kimber, and trade unionist Don Foreman will attend a evening event in Vancouver recognizing the outstanding work of Vancouver Free the Five Committee.
The Canadian Network commends the Vancouver Free the Cuban Five Committee for its significant activities for solidarity and justice for the Cuban Five.
End the Injustice! Free all the Cuban Five Now! Viva Cuba!
