WINNIPEG!
On Sunday, August 28, Winnipeg will join cities across Canada, the U.S. and other countries with a Day of Solidarity with Cuba. Begun in Miami by Carlos Lazo and the patriotic Cuban community in early 2021, car caravans became a way to show monthly solidarity against the U.S. Blockade during the pandemic. Winnipeg's first one was in March that year.
On the 28th, we will meet at River & Osborne at 1:00 for a Rally and picket, followed by a car caravan to the Graffiti Gallery at 109 Higgins, where the acclaimed film The Motorcycle Diaries will be shown at 2:30. There will be pizza, soft drinks and coffee served. We'll have time for discussion after the movie.
For those who can make a contribution, proceeds will go to the ongoing campaign for medical supplies for Cuba in the wake of the disastrous oil plant fire in Matanzas.
A poster for the event will follow later today.
