Havana, September 9, 2014 - Prominent Canadian Intellectual Keith Ellis, professor emeritus at the University of Toronto, was honored today in Havana with the prestigious Medal of Friendship in recognition of his long history of solidarity with the island.

South Africa launches campaign against U.S. Cuba sanctions Print E-mail

Johannesburg, July 28.- South Africa’s ruling African National Congress has launched a Cuban Solidarity Campaign — pledging to work against long-standing U.S. economic blockade against the Caribbean island nation. ANC Secretary-General Gwede Mantashe has pledged South Africa to help Cuba fight the “inhuman U.S. sanctions against the Caribbean nation.”

Havana, Cuba, Jul 25.- Cuba ranks 44th on the Human Development Index published Thursday by the UN Development Program (UNDP), thus placing the island among the nations with the category of very high indicator.
