Letter to the Editor of the Toronto Star Print E-mail

To: Editor, Toronto Star

Re: Toronto man, 78, guilty of sex crimes against children in Cuba, June 15, 2013

The series of Toronto Star articles on sexual predators posing as tourists in Cuba comprise a campaign of outright deception. It is well known that Cuba has a zero tolerance for molestation of children. There is simply no comparison of Cuba with the countries where sex tourism is promoted, which implies child pornography and paedophelia. These are not tolerated in Cuba.

Cuba holds an admirable place in the international community as concerns the protection and promotion of the rights of children. In Cuba every child is guaranteed an education and access to universal and free healthcare. In Cuba there are no homeless children roaming the streets eking out an existence in a dog-eat-dog society. There is no child pornography industry in Cuba or tolerance of paedophelia, no priests or educators or sports coaches molesting children, no media preying on children or promoting gossips and yellow journalism about them. Rather than promote lies about Cuba, the Toronto Star would do well to remind its audience that anyone who violates Cuban laws as concerns laying a hand on a minor will definitely end up in jail.

Sincerely,
Isaac Saney

Greetings to the Five Days for the Five, Washington, DC, May 30-June 5, 2013 Print E-mail

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

The Canadian Network On Cuba, on behalf of the Canada-Cuba solidarity and friendship movement, warmly greet all those gathered in Washington over these five days in the fight to break the wall of silence and disinformation that surrounds the just cause of the Five Cuban Heroes.  As exemplars of Cuba, they represent the best of the struggle for self-determination, independence and human dignity. Their ongoing victimization by the U.S. government for defending their homeland from terrorism is an affront to the peoples of the world.

Our recently concluded 6th Convention reaffirmed our resolute commitment to continue mobilizing to demand that the U.S. government immediately and unconditionally free all of the Five Heroes. As long any of the Five Heroes remain in prison, we will not pause in our struggle for their freedom! Together with your efforts, and all those across the world, justice will prevail!

Free All the Five Cuban Heroes Now!

In solidarity,
On behalf of the Canadian Network On Cuba
Isaac Saney
Co-Chair & National Spokesperson
