Hands Off Cuba! No to the U.S. War on Cuba! Print E-mail

-Isaac Saney, Spokesperson, Canadian Network on Cuba, July 12, 2021 -

The Canadian Network on Cuba condemns the manipulation of the July 11 events in Cuba by reactionary politicians and the monopoly media in order to create a climate of disinformation and confusion that will be used to justify so-called humanitarian intervention in the heroic island nation.

Specifically, we denounce the U.S. ongoing economic war and campaign of subversion against Cuba. Washington's hand in orchestrating the protests is undeniable. It is quite revealing that at the exact time the protests were occurring in Cuba, simultaneous demonstrations were organized at Cuban embassies and consulates in cities across the world.

June 23rd United Nations General Assembly Vote on Resolution Against US Economic Sanctions Against Cuba Print E-mail

June 21st, 2021
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Global Affairs Canada
125 Sussex Drive
Ottawa, ON, Canada
Co-Chair and National Spokesperson
Canadian Network on Cuba

The Honourable Marc Garneau

Dear Minister Garneau,

Re: June 23rd United Nations General Assembly Vote on Resolution Against US Economic Sanctions Against Cuba

I am writing to you on behalf of the Canadian Network On Cuba (CNC), which represents Canada-Cuba friendship and solidarity organizations from Vancouver to Halifax. Two of the CNC’s principal objectives are bringing an end to US economic sanctions against Cuba and ensuring that Canada’s relations with Cuba are based on equality and respect for the island nation’s independence, sovereignty, and the right of self-determination.

Since the early 1960s, the Government of the United States has imposed on Cuba the longest lasting regime of sanctions in history. It would not be an exaggeration to describe Washington’s policy as an economic war against the people of Cuba. The objective is the negation and extinguishment of Cuba’s right to self-determination, sovereignty, and independence. This effort to asphyxiate Cuba is an egregious violation of the human rights of the Cuban people and an intolerable violation of the right to self-determination.

Uphold the Right of Self-Determination! No to Colonial and Imperial Policies! Print E-mail
-Isaac Saney, CNC Spokesperson, March 2, 2021-

The Canadian Network on Cuba (CNC) is outraged by the communique from Global Affairs Canada summarizing the February 26 virtual meeting between Foreign Minister Marc Garneau and U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. It is an open declaration that Ottawa, lock step with the United States, arrogates to itself the right to intervene in the affairs of countries across the globe, particularly in the Americas. As the follow-up to the so-called Roadmap for a Renewed U.S.-Canada Partnership launched by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Joe Biden in their own February 23 virtual meeting, the communique not only violates international law, norms and conventions but also reeks of the discredited colonialist mentality and practice of foisting on independent countries imperial arrangements that they do not want or accept.

When the Victimizer Blames the Victim - No to the Latest U.S. Aggression Against Cuba! Print E-mail
-Isaac Saney, Spokesperson Canadian Network On Cuba, January 13, 2021-

The Canadian Network On Cuba (CNC) vigorously and unequivocally condemns the deceitful and duplicitous designation of Cuba by the Trump regime as a sponsor of terrorism. This is an act of blatant opportunism and cynicism, an act that flies in the face of reality. It is Cuba that has been the victim of all manner of terrorist attacks that have been carried out against Cuba with the complicity, participation and sponsorship of Washington.

Since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, Washington has waged an unceasing assault, both military and economic, against the Cuban people, organizing an invasion, assassinations, terrorist attacks against civilians and systematic economic sabotage. Many of these acts were directly launched from and/or planned in the United States. These acts of terror against Cuba, include the 1976 bombing of a civilian Cuban airliner that claimed the lives of 73 people and the 1997 Havana hotel bombings, which claimed the life of Fabio Di Celmo, a young Montrealer of Italian origin. As point of fact, 3,478 Cubans have been killed and 2,099 injured, as a result of these terrorists acts.
