Canadian Launch ![]() The book was presented by outstanding Cuban intellectuals Miguel Barnet and Aurelio Alfonso who explained the content and historical value of the book. The launch was the highlight of an event organized by the Canadian Cuban Friendship Association-Toronto which included a speech by Elizabeth Palmeiro, the wife of Ramon Labañino, one of the five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons. Dr. Sanchez Noda is leading a delegation of about 78 Cuban social scientists taking part in the four-day academic congress, the largest of its kind, attended by about 5,000 experts on Latin American and Caribbean issues. The wide-ranging program of the congress includes some 1,000 presentations on political, religious, cultural, historical and social issues, with the U.S. aggression against Cuba and the impact of illegal immigration and violence on Mexico at the centre of panel discussions in several sessions. |
